Pottery experience

Miike ware is a pottery opened in 1975 in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture by its predecessor, Seto Nakamura. In 1981, he moved to Minamiseki-cho, Tamana-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture, and continues to this day. This pottery uses a specially made glaze and about 30 kinds of decorative soil, and is a 100% handmade pottery made using various techniques to match the shape and usage of the vessel. A typical glaze is a red glaze called shinshayu glaze, but as a glaze of the same type as cinnabar glaze (reduced and fired using copper as a coloring material), a light purple uniform kiln glaze ) And green-based copper green glaze. In addition, we also make oil droplets, baking, painting, pottery dolls, and pottery accessories. You cannot make many products of the same type, like mass-produced pottery. Making use of the characteristics of manual work, we make each item with the feeling of each item. Even in the modern times of science, it is impossible to completely conquer flames, and whimsical flames sometimes change the color of vessels. While enjoying the change, I try to create works that whisper to my heart like beautiful things in nature.
